Walking in God's Power

When God gives us a mission, He also provides the power to accomplish it. This truth becomes evident through Moses' initial confrontation with Pharaoh and the subsequent challenges he faced.

Why Do We Need God's Power?

Confronting oppression and darkness without divine power can put a target on God's people. When Moses first approached Pharaoh, rather than achieving immediate liberation, the situation worsened for the Israelites. Their workload increased, and their spirits were crushed.

What Happens When We Try to Serve Without God's Power?

Even when following God's instructions, Moses faced several challenges:

  • Pharaoh refused to acknowledge Yahweh
  • The oppression intensified
  • The Israelites turned against Moses
  • The mission appeared to fail initially
How Does God Respond to Our Disappointment?

When Moses questioned God about the apparent failure, God responded by:

  • Reaffirming His identity ("I am Yahweh")
  • Reminding Moses of His promises
  • Emphasizing His commitment to deliver His people
  • Promising to demonstrate His power through "great acts of judgment"
What Does Walking in God's Power Look Like?

True spiritual power comes from:

  • Remembering God's character
  • Taking on God's motives
  • Following through with basic obedience
  • Recognizing our dependence on divine intervention
  • Understanding we're part of a bigger story

Life Application

This week, consider these questions:

  • In what areas of your life are you trying to accomplish God's mission without His power?
  • How often do you depend on your own strength rather than seeking God's empowerment?
  • What steps can you take to align yourself with God's timing and methods?

Challenge: Take time each day this week to specifically pray for God's power in your life. Identify one area where you've been relying on your own strength and intentionally surrender it to God, asking for His divine intervention and guidance.

Remember: We cannot settle for God's mission without His power. Just as Moses learned to depend on God's strength rather than his own abilities, we too must learn to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit to effectively serve God's purposes.
